English as a Second Language (ESL)

English as a Second Language or ESL is a comprehensive English language program that supports students who to learn English as a second or third language. Normally, ESL programs include instructions in reading, writing, and conversing with emphasis on cultivating important conversational and job-related communication skills. The type of ESL program for learners will depend on their level of comprehension of the English language.

The concept of an ESL program is to help non-native speakers gain confidence in using the English language through simple, yet rich practical lessons. ESL students are accompanied by certified or licensed English instructors. Most ESL teachers have a degree in English and an ESL or TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification.

ESL programs can accommodate students from different language backgrounds. Instructions can be delivered online depending on the models provided by the ESL resource center.

Globalization have driven the growth and demand for studying English and having a career in ESL instruction. Modules and sessions in this program address all the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Special emphasis is also given to the practice and reinforcement of oral communication.

This program is designed for a multi-leveled class of students with varying English proficiencies. While classes are online, they were made to allow students to grow in their English skills at a pace that best fits learning styles and needs. Students will be guided to develop their skills in vocabulary and grammatical knowledge so they will be able to successfully communicate with ease and confidence. It is our best interest to provide students a learning setting that is centered on a healthy student-and-instructor relationship.
